Copenhagen Airport right now…heading home!

We are on our way home. Everyone is checked in and we are soon to be boarding….

Спасибо / Kiitos / Tack / Tak / Thank You

Its hard to believe the trip is over.  What an incredible 12 days of adventure, friendship and fun (and great hockey too of course! ) To all who helped us get here and supported us along the way,  thank you.  We all have memories that will last a lifetime.

Over the bridge and under the sea

Today we travelled to our fourth country, Denmark and toured Copenhagen.  The bridge and tunnel that replaced the ferry service was very scenic despite the rainy day.   The city was quite different from the others we have seen (but there were still lots of souvenir shops to enjoy!!)

New Harbour

Changing of the guard at the Royal Palace

The Little Mermaid - the fairy tale isn't exactly the Disney version
After the tour we had our farewell lunch.  The boys each spoke about what the best part of the trip was. It was neat to hear their version of the experience

Couldn't forget to take the Napanee Guide picture

After the lunch and some shopping,  we headed off to game 6.
We all may have been a bit tired…..

However….if you count last goal scored - we won again!! (the other 5 scored don't really count!)

The home team was so close!

OT…. it doesn't get any closer than that, and unfortunately Sweden ended up on the wrong side of the 3-2 game.  The rink was a sea of yellow this time and fans are very energetic.  We donned our yellow and cheered loud.  It was an awesome game and amazing to be at!

A sea of red was not quite enough….

Just being at the WJ's has been totally cool.  The excitement and atmosphere in the rink is awesome.  We may have come in second place (again, and yes we know that's really 4th, but we are trying to be positive) but we cheered loud and had a good time.

Maybe wearing white will help?

TWe are back at the WJ's cheering on Team Canada !

Foteviken

This morning we headed out to a Viking Village - kinda like Pioneer Village, Swedish style.  The tour guide said he was a true Viking (who pointed out that there are no horns on a true Vikings helmet btw…)  Despite the rain it was a lot of fun.  Ryan was very brave to be shot at with a long bow!

We placed second today & dinner was great!

Ok, so maybe Canada didn't do too well in the game tonight…..But, going to the World Juniors was really fun.  We had great seats right behind the players bench. There was tons of energy in the rink.  It seemed that the fans were either Swedish or Canadian - not to many Russian or Finnish to be found.  We did lots of cheering and flag waving and tried to get on TSN.  It was an exciting first game, then we watched Canada / Finland.  (enough said) And yes, in between games we were treated to really great buffet dinner.  Hopefully tomorrow Team Canada brings home a medal!

Here we were all hoping for a Sweden / Canada final…..

If only the game could have stayed like this…...

On a positive note, the Mom's did realize they could wear their Sweden Sweaters to tomorrow's Gold Medal Game!
